• Collective bargaining is specifically an industrial relations mechanism or tool that comes handy when the need arises to bring to equilibrium a disequilibrated work environment.
•It is regularly used as a twin companion of ‘negotiation’
•However as a process, the two are the same, in which case, the principles applicable to negotiations are relevant to collective bbargaining but some differences need to be noted
•When a dispute arises between a work union and its management organ, collective bargaining is the civilized process embarked upon to resolve issues. This is where collective interests becomes a feature for both parties
•But where negotiations is required in non-employment situations, collective interests are less or non-existent
