Abstract: In this study, efforts are made to show-case the fact that the concerns about an effective management of human behaviour, in terms of describing, predicting and prescribing a best fit, predated the study of psychology as a formal course of study in any Nigerian university. The study exploited the narratives of D.O. Fagunwa to highlight the priority given to norm compliant behaviour in the Yoruba culture where all available avenues such as folklores, moonlight tales, narratives, and direct instructions are utilized to impart this in the younger generation. Five important psychological perspectives constituted the focus of discussion in the study. These are the; the cultural, individual, situational, social group and life span perspectives. The study however acknowledged the expertise of Fagunwa as a narrator and a master at graphically weaving the Yoruba language to convey his message.
