Challenges of Public Position and Advocacy for Best Practices in Nation Building in Nigeria

Abstract: This paper critically examined the
nature of the seemingly greed induced attitudinal disposition of some political
aspirants and public position holders in Nigeria and concluded that the
buccaneering nature of the techniques adopted, portends negative augury for any
sustainable nation building aspiration. In order to justify the need to
reinvent a new approach to nation building, the paper explored the
psychological antecedents of the negative attitudinal disposition, identified
factors responsible for its sustenance and suggested that
concerted effort be
put in place, such that will stimulate a build up to a new behavioural
